She always chooses the wrong one. Beautiful words describing a path to healing and unexpected love. I pace the floor, my heart racing while I resist the urge to throw more stuff around. Written in free verse from the alternating viewpoints of Nico and Brooklyn, the story tells the tale of how both teens are haunted by Lucca Nico's brother and Gabe, teens who have died recently. I sob and think, Why, Gabe? After Lucca died, it changed Gabe.

I knew this would upset you. As the nightmares escalate and the messages become relentless, Nico reaches out to Brooklyn. It saves this story from becoming what might have otherwise been just another overwrought mourning book. Convinced it's Lucca, Nico reaches out to help Brooklyn as best he can. She knows it's Gabe chasing after her, but she doesn't know why. Most helpful negative review Average rating:2out of5stars, based onreviews This YA novel will und

See more This YA novel will undoubtedly appeal to teens who like a sad story of redemption, or who believe in ghosts, or the guiding hand of the recently departed to influence those left behind. The haunting premise is an appealing one. They lose Gabe, the young man driving the car that killed Lucca. I had not too long ago been lamenting the fact that I had yet to discover a novel-in-verse that I really liked. Mostly we sat in his room, me writing letters, him strumming on his guitar. This book was sincerely lovely.

Chasing Brooklyn book

Lucca was Brooklyn's boyfriend and Nico's brother. A quick read, but one with substance. Every time she closes her eyes, Gabe's ghost is there waiting for her.

She is that good. Beautiful words describing grief and how it's different for everyone. The survivors are visited by the deceased who leave messages that bring feelings of hope and fear to Brooklyn and Nico.

Chasing Brooklyn

It opened my eyes to my own possibilities. But what I needed this week was something quieter, simpler.

Chasing Brooklyn, by Lisa Schroeder

Praise For… " [Chasing Brooklyn] cut right to the emotional quick. Brooklyn and Nico have both lost Lucca, who is Nico's brother and Brooklyn's boyfriend.

Quotes from Chasing Brooklyn

The two find common ground in their grief and try to move on, feeling their way despite, or in some Chasing Brooklyn book with the encouragement, of the ghosts. Nico, Lucca's brother, has learned to cope by shutting everyone out.

Now her dreams are being haunted by a ghost, gray and sinister. I couldn't put the book down it was so good and I highly recommend it.

Brooklyn, Lucca's girlfriend, has learned to wear a mask of strength and indifference after losing the boy she loved. Brooklyn and Nico were devastated that Lucca and Gabe died.

Tragedy striking yet again. Written in free verse from the alternating viewpoints of Nico and Brooklyn, the story tells the tale of how both teens are haunted by Lucca Nico's brother and Gabe, teens who have died recently.

Or maybe that was about Nico? I had not too long ago been lamenting the fact that I had yet to discover a novel-in-verse that I really liked. Thanks for pulling me out of my slump, Lisa. Convinced it's Lucca, Nico reaches out to help Brooklyn as best he can.

Chasing Brooklyn by Lisa Schroeder - Restless souls and empty hearts Brooklyn can't sleep. Her boyfriend, Lucca, died only a year ago, and now her friend Gabe. Restless souls and empty hearts Brooklyn can't sleep. Her boyfriend, Lucca, died only a year ago, and now her friend Gabe has just died of an overdose.

Every time she closes her eyes, Gabe's ghost is there waiting for her. She has no idea what he wants or why it isn't Lucca visiting her dreams.

Nico can't stop. He's always running, trying to escape the pain of losing his brother, Lucca.4/5(40). ― Lisa Schroeder, quote from Chasing Brooklyn “The beautiful thing is, music can be like a time machine. One song- the lyrics, the melody, the mood- can take you back to a moment in time like nothing else can.” Books are seen by some as a throwback to a previous world; conversely, gleaning the main ideas of a book via a quote or a.
