I can't remember the last time I read a collection so adeptly and consistently toned in offbeat sadness, so rich in setting and character. More often than not, those moments during the day when you feel sleepy and fatigued is due to a lack of water. My first instinct is to say that this is a collection of mistakes gone terribly right. Owens reminds us that we are forever shaped by the children we once were, and that we are all subject to the beautiful and violent secrets that nature keeps. In more ways than one, my reaction to 'Miracle Boy and Other Stories' was not unlike my reaction to P.
If you want to give this a real go and change your life for the better, you need to commit to it for 30 days. If a person is living a successful life, then that person simply has the habits in place that are creating and sustaining their levels of success. Indeed, to read these stories is to be entertained through transportation—to be stretched, challenged, and maybe even turned inside out. They live and die in an atmosphere of bleakness and despair, with violence and brutality as constant companions.
During the course of crafting these pieces, the author has mastered multiple facets of the art of storytelling. Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng is a slow-burn read told from multiple point of views. I liked this book because I got to read about how they're bond as brothers were very strong but the loss of their mother really impacted it and tore them apart.
They fear for Charlie and want to help him overcome his anger and grief. Into this corrupt mountain community stumbles Goody, a good but troubled bare-fisted boxer who once killed a man in a dirty match. But that's a dumb metaphor.

Pinckney Benedict has a way of making me a wimp city boy at home on the farm, even if that farm is plagued with murderous mudmen, diseased cows, or the ghosts of dead relatives. After many experiments on himself and others, he emphasises that the key factor in waking up with energy is that you tell yourself before you go to bed, that you would be getting enough sleep that night and would wake up in the morning feeling energised and ready to go.
